I mean, keeping yourself occupied during a 2 week road trip when your friends are stoned can be difficult enough. </p>
<p><img src="http://www.automopedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/Traffic_Barrel_Monster_01.jpg" alt="Traffic_Barrel_Monster_01" title="Traffic_Barrel_Monster_01" width="504" height="581" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3026" /></p>
<p>The barrel creature, and his recent partner Mz. Barrel, are the creations of North Carolina State student Joseph Carnevale, a self-proclaimed &#8220;vigilante artist.&#8221; Proving that the law has no respect for art, Joey was sentenced to 50 hours of community service for his &#8220;crime.&#8221; Hamlin Associates, the company who owns the construction barrels, did not press charges and apparently want their own version of the statue stating &#8220;If we&#8217;d known he&#8217;d do that good of work, we&#8217;d have given him the barrels.&#8221; The former &#038; Mz. Barrel currently reside on Hillsborough Street in Raleigh, NC.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.automopedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/Traffic-Barrel-Monster-Back-Gets-Girl.jpg" alt="Traffic-Barrel-Monster-Back-Gets-Girl" title="Traffic-Barrel-Monster-Back-Gets-Girl" width="390" height="453" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3028" /></p>
<p>One of our other favorite pieces comes in the form of Mr. &#038; Mrs. Pump in Washington DC. It&#8217;s more interesting then the Monuments or the government. </p>
<p><img src="http://www.automopedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/Road_Art_MrPump.jpg" alt="Road_Art_MrPump" title="Road_Art_MrPump" width="504" height="335" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3029" /></p>
<p>Of course, there&#8217;s always the Mighty Brontosaurus, and apparently they are all alive and well in France. But you can&#8217;t hit them with your car, Dinosaurs have the right of way just as humans and bicycles do. Or maybe this sign stands for Dino Parking?</p>

These people took it amongst themselves to do just that.<span id="more-455"></span> We&#8217;re not sure exactly how road-ready some of these vehicles are, but if they can survive the deserts of Burning Man, the wet-green hills of Vermont and the streets of Moscow, they have to be somewhat stable&#8230;right?</p>
<p><strong>Moonbeam</strong></p>
<p>The Moonbeam is a sort of man-made escape pod&#8230;except it&#8217;s on the ground. Does it come with a cute hippie girl as pictured below?</p>
<p><img src="http://www.automopedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/moonbeam.jpg" alt="Moonbean moon car" /></p>
<p><strong>Lay-Z-Boy Car</strong></p>
<p>Straight out of England, and they think American&#8217;s are lazy. Is that Top Gear&#8217;s Jeremy Clarkson? We love the coffee talk approach in design</p>
<p><img src="http://www.automopedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/loveseatcar.jpg" alt="lay-z-boy car" /></p>
<p><strong>LoLCat LoLCar </strong></p>
<p>Oh Noes, iz dat ur kitteh carr??</p>
<p><img src="http://www.automopedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/lolcatcar.jpg" alt="lolcat car" /></p>
<p><strong>What the Fu&#8230;</strong></p>
<p>We have no idea what this is, except an attempt at &#8220;Art&#8221; via Burning Man&#8217;s art car review. Looks like Frylock (of <em>Aqua Teen Hunger Force</em>) on Meth. We just call him the &#8220;Fu$%ing Evil-Ass Car&#8221;</p>
<p><img src="http://www.automopedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/fingevilcar.jpg" alt="evil art car" /></p>
<p><strong>Homemade Ariel Atom</strong></p>
<p>Some guy out in the desert built his own 0 to 60 mph in 4 seconds Ariel Atom. We&#8217;re giving him 6 months to break that record down to 3.5, then we&#8217;re going to build our own!</p>
<p><img src="http://www.automopedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/atomcar.jpg" alt="Ariel Atom" /></p>
<p><strong>Nothing beats a Budweiser Car</strong></p>
<p>From the annual Woodward Auto Show &#8211; it may be unsafe to drink and drive, but who says you can&#8217;t drive a drink?</p>
<p><img src="http://www.automopedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/budwoodward.jpg" alt="budweiser car" /></p>
<p><strong>Only in Mother Russia &#8211; The Bathtub Motorcycle</strong></p>
<p>Apparently the Fuzz of the former Soviet Union dislike such vehicles on their roads.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.automopedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/tubcar-russia.jpg" alt="russian bathtub car" /></p>
<p><strong>Homemade Batmobile Tumbler</strong></p>
<p>We&#8217;ve seen many homemade Tumblers since Batman Begins came out, and it never gets old. Every child trapped in side of us wants their very own Batmobile. Wait, why is there a child trapped in you&#8230;perv.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.automopedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/tumbler.jpg" alt="homemade tumbler" /></p>
<p><strong>Pacman Mobile</strong></p>
<p>Omnomnomnomnomnom&#8230;Need we say more?</p>
<p><img src="http://www.automopedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/pacman.jpg" alt="pacman car" /></p>
<p><strong>Homemade Lamborghini</strong></p>
<p>If you can&#8217;t afford the real thing, build your own.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.automopedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/lambor.jpg" alt="homemade lambo" /></p>

It can also be a great opportunity for dressing up your automobile, and not look like a raving lunatic.<span id="more-628"></span> We&#8217;ve already seen the impact <a href="http://www.automopedia.org/2008/10/10/road-trip-the-cars-of-burning-man/">Art Cars</a> have on concert events, now check out what everyday people do to their rides for Halloween. Now, do you hand out bottles of 10W-30 instead of candy corn?</p>
<p><img src="http://www.automopedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/hallo-antlers.jpg" alt="truck antlers" /><br />
Dress your truck up like a deer, but be aware of hunting signs when you drive around rural areas. And don&#8217;t tell the kid working at Smith&#8217;s Halloween Superstore you may buy these for a car &#8211; he may implement a &#8220;F-250 or larger&#8221; stipulation on you.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.automopedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/hallo-nissan.jpg" alt="halloween nissan" /><br />
We this this is a Nissan GT, or maybe a Lexus, but we commend the designer for going all out with this Halloween mural.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.automopedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/hallo-pacman.jpg" alt="pac man car" /><br />
<em>Womp womp womp womp womp womp womp womp womp womp</em></p>
<p><img src="http://www.automopedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/pimpedbus.jpg" alt="Pimped Bus" height="275" width="500" /><br />
We just cannot get enough of this Cadillac Escalade School Bus, one of the best disguises we&#8217;ve seen on an automobile.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.automopedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/hallo-ptcat.jpg" alt="Chrysler PT Cruiser Cat Car" /><br />
<em>oh hai</em> &#8211; LOL PT Cruiser?</p>
<p><img src="http://www.automopedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/pimpednissanstar.jpg" alt="Star Wars Nissan Sentra" height="267" width="505" /><br />
&#8220;Star Waaarrrsssss, nothing but Stttaaarrrrr WWaaaarrrrssssss&#8230;&#8221; This is how you become the king or queen of geeks for Halloween.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.automopedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/hallo-vwbunny.jpg" alt="halloween bunny car costume" /><br />
Widdle Bunny Wabbits just wuv when you dress up your Jetta or Passat like them. Although, this costume may result in more road kill, as cute rabbits mistake your car&#8217;s tires for mommy&#8217;s paw. Dinner anyone?</p>
<p><img src="http://www.automopedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/halloween-car.jpg" alt="Halloween machine" /><br />
The Halloween Machine! Seen here in a local Ohio <em>Giant Eagle</em> parking lot. Is that <em>Chuckie</em> with a hardcore wig &amp; beard above the passenger seat?</p>
<p><img src="http://www.automopedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/pimpedvw.jpg" alt="Turtle Volkswagen Bug" /><br />
Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase &#8220;got a turtle head poking out!&#8221;</p>
<p><img src="http://www.automopedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/hallo-child.jpg" alt="car air freshener costume" /><br />
Well, this isn&#8217;t exactly what we have in mind, but that kid is friggin adorable!</p>
<p><img src="http://www.automopedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/hallo-girl.jpg" alt="hot race car driver costume" /><br />
Umm&#8230;this is a great flag girl/race car driver costume and&#8230;uhh&#8230;what were we talking about?</p>
