Happy 75th Birthday, Wienermobile
You may not wish you were an Oscar Mayer Wiener, since it is turning 75 this year. Well, at least the Wienermobile is. This iconic promotional vehicle, which was first constructed as the “Oscar Meyer German Wieners” mobile in 1936, will turn 75 this month.
Wiener fanatics (insert joke here) from around the world are posting photos a sharing stories about first encounters with the all might Wiener (insert another joke). The Oscar Mayer Company is using this opportunity to unveil a brand new line of Wiener Food Trucks. The first “Wienermobile Food Truck” is able to accomplish something previous Mobiles never could – sell hot dogs.
Oscar Mayer unveiled Wienermobile’s food truck in New York City, a place where wieners are known to battle it out (we can’t make this any easier for you people!). Don’t worry, Oscar Mayer food trucks won’t replace Wienermobiles, which tour the country annually.
The food truck will travel to 12 cities in the summer of 2011, promoting their line of hot dogs and other meaty treats. After NYC, the tour will head out to Detroit, Pittsburgh and Columbus, along with several other US metropolises.
