7 Truck Pile Up Closes New Jersey Turnpike
A nine-vehicle crash on the NJ Turnpike two weeks ago, featuring seven tractor trailers, caused backups of up to 13 miles. How do we know this? Well the news article linked below, oh and the fact that this blogger was stuck on a clean and roomy Greyhound bus for over two hours thanks to the incident. Guess which part of the last sentence is complete sarcasm.
According to NJ.com: No serious injuries were reported in the southbound accident, but there were serious traffic delays — even on the northbound Turnpike, where rubberneckers slowed down to get a look at the crash near Interchange 8.
The accident involving seven trucks and two cars happened around 2 p.m., Turnpike spokesman Tom Feeney said.
One truck in the left lane sustained heavy front-end damage and wasn’t cleared until two and half hours after the crash.
From this writer’s POV I have to say that when passing the accident, only half cleaned up at the time, I am shocked and very happy no one died. It is, in fact, pretty improbable if you were to base it on the carnage alone.
