The World’s Largest Train Tunnel

Yes, that is one huge train tunnel being built in The Alps. I hope that guy doesn’t pull a 127 Hours.

And that’s no manhole – its the end of a huge cave digger, carving its way through Sedrun-Faido, the NEAT Gotthard Base Tunnel. Cutting across this mountain range in the Alps, the machine will make room for over 35 miles of track. The full project is made of up two parallel tunnels, ready for their first trip in 2016.
