The Planters Nutmobile

Planters Nutmobile

Mr. Peanut is a fancy man with a new luxury ride – The Planters Nutmobile. Oscar Mayer has its Wienermobile, and as much as we adore the top hat and cane carrying Nut, we feel he’s ripping off the processed meat people.

But who cares – we live in a time when people are not about originality, they’re about taking something currently existing and bringing it one step beyond sanity. Nabisco seems to have accomplished this with Nutmobile. Let’s take a closer look:

You won’t recognize it from the outside, but Nutmobile is built on the chassis of an Isuzu NPR, which is basically a re-badged Chevy Trailblazer. This Nutty car, however, doesn’t power itself on fossil fuel alone. Atop this chunky ride is a small wind turbine. When the vehicle is in motion, the spinning blade powers interior lighting. Solar panels at the roof’s rear also collect energy for nut-car’s battery. But that’s not all!

The Nutmobile will run on a combination of 5% bio-diesel, which is, surprisingly, not peanut oil based. Many of the vehicle’s key features are made from 100% recycled parts, such as lighting fixtures and front windshield. The “nut shell” wood paneling is also recycled, from a barn in Lancaster, PA dating back to the 1840′s. No word yet on if this is the Schrute Beet Farm.

The cabin has, of course, been extended to not only resemble a large nut, but to accommodate the man himself – as it is rumored Mr. Peanut is upwards of 12 feet tall.

Here’s a final bit of trivia: Peanuts are not actually nuts – they are in the bean family. Maybe Planters should rename this hooptie “The Beanmobile.”
