Automopedia’s Super Bowl XLV Car Commercial Rundown

It seems like people can’t stop complaining about 2011′s Super Bowl XLV. I can see it from one perspective…the one from my empty bank account thanks to The Steelers’ poor game play. But everything – from Christina Aguilera’s terrorizing of the National Anthem, to The Black Eyed Peas and their Half-Time fiacso – is being panned on sites like Twitter and Facebook. Even the game itself got crapped on for being dull.

People just can’t seem to agree on anything – except for, as usual, the Super Bowl Commercials. Our child sites (linked up and to the right) will direct you to some of the entertaining spots from Volkswagen, Chevrolet and Audi. But here, at Automopedia, we’re taking a look at ads from other automotive-related commercials.

Bridgestone Tires – Reply All

Fast Five (aka Fast & Furious 5) – The Official Trailer

CarMax – Gas Station

Cars.com – Go First

Mini Cooper Countryman – Cram It In The Boot

Honorable Mention: Career Builder – The Parking Lot

Ok, it’s not automotive related, but this commercial is just too adorable:

  1. I’m a MINI driver, so perhaps I’m biased, but I really liked the Cram it in the boot spot. Saw the 60 second version on You Tube’s adblitz and liked it even better. Go MINI!

  2. not sure whether this was their intention or not but I have begun telling people to “cram it in the boot”. rather liking the way it makes me sound both British and low-brow at the same time.
now I may or may not ever buy a mini Countryman but still.
Cars.com and Bridgestone deserve mention as well. I thought those were nice ads. now if only they could have figured out a way to, I dunno, hit someone in the crotch with something. then they would have really had something.

  3. As a follow up on 2 of the SB car ads – Chrysler is airing a :30 version of the Detroit ad and Eminem is not in this version. Interesting.
Mini countryman has a billboard in Times square and it is NOT the “cram it” ad but instead a basic message about it being good in the snow. Cool looking though:

Guess they have given up trying to promote “cram it in your boot!” as the next catch-phrase.
