Snowpocalypse 2K10 Part 2: Mother Nature Strikes Back

Snowpocalypse 2010

In case you haven’t heard (or don’t live on the Northern East Coast of the US) it snowed a little yesterday. And last night. And this morning. In fact, it was a straight 20 hours of precipitation. With no end in sight, many began forming groups who would hunt for prey, weapons, and survivors to imprison, as Snowpocalypse II continued its violent beating of the Greater New York area. But then plows were released into the wild, cautiously removing icy white fluff from our avenues, and people came to their senses once more.

It was still pretty brutal out there, with well over a foot in some areas of New York City, and winds reaching 25 miles per hour. Several New York-situated blogs gave us a run-down of what’s up with this storm, and some amazing photos of its aftermath.

According to Gothamist: You might have noticed that we’ve accumulated a light dusting of snow outside (and inside). Maybe you were thinking about driving to work this morning? Don’t. Yesterday’s storm left our roadways, how do we put this lightly? Temporarily screwed. (Photos by Gothamist, Daniel J. Grinkevich & JR in NYC)

Another website, EV Grieve, an East Village blog, added: Took a walk around Tompkins Square Park this morning. Not much going on! Given the drifting, difficult to say just how much snow is on the ground — 16 to 22 inches, maybe?
