The X1 Green Scooter…Bike…Scootbike
The X-1 is finally out, impressing the pants off those “Green” Transportation lovers – who probably need their pants taken off and washed thoroughly. The official name for this two-wheeled covered ride is the Sinclair X-1, and it’s currently available from dealers throughout the United Kingdom. But is the X-1 officially a scooter? Or is it a bicycle? Tree Hugger isn’t sure, though the vehicle is street legal with a lithium-ion battery pack, which can be recharged thanks to a fixed gear (to keep its hipster cred) chain attached to pedals.
X-1′s handle bars are adjustable, and its waterproof acrylic bubble protects its rider from rain. The Sinclair X-1 only weighs about 30 kg. – “which is slightly worrying when you think of driving in traffic.”
So X-1 uses no gasoline, though it does have a motor, and has brakes, but is a “fixie.” This one’s a little confusing. What do you think – Is X-1 Bicycle or Scooter?
