Indie Rock and Auto Ads

In today’s world of automotive advertising, Indie Rock is taking the forefront of background music. Bands your parents (or older siblings) have never even heard of are being snagged for car commercials. I guess this all started with spots for Apple products like the iPod years ago. After that, everyone from Target to McDonald’s were buying up indie rock tunes for use in their advertisements.

Car companies are only the latest in this long line of monolithic corporations to (in a somewhat ironic fashion) pump indie rock through the television in order to get people in a Nissan or Ford dealership. Still, these songs are pretty fantastic – we highly recommend Sleigh Bells (pictured above) and Edward Sharpe here at Automopedia:

Ford Fiesta & Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros | Janglin

Nissan Juke & Fredrika Stahl | Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

Honda CR-Z Hybrid & Sleigh Bells | Riot Rhythm

Toyota Prius & Petra Haden | Fun

Kia Soul & Black Sheep | The Choice is Yours
