BP’s Lack of Photoshopping Skills

BP Photoshop

British Petroleum can’t seem to great a break these days – maybe that’s because they caused a huge oil leak pumping black sludge into the Gulf of Mexico for almost three months. But they’re trying their hardest to be everyone’s friend, and remind you how great it is to have oil. To show just how into this Gulf relief effort they are, the cause of which has destroyed an eco-system and put many residents of that area out of work, BP published photos of their survey and damage teams. Except whether or not these teams actually exist is a mystery – since it seems those photos were staged.

We’ll start with the first of two heavily promoted shots, this one from BP’s Crisis Command Center, which looks like something Bruce Wayne should be sitting in front of trying to pinpoint Joker’s whereabouts:

There are several poor photo editing mistakes in this image, most notably are the bad cropping lines around this fellow’s head:

In the next pic we see two hard at work helicopter pilots surveying vessels sent to collect oil from the Gulf. While we find it creepy enough that BOTH these supposed pilots look like Locke from Lost, they also seem to not be flying:

They also seem to be superimposed, as is the random, floating air traffic control tower to the upper left:

And don’t forget the poor cropping skills of those BP Photoshoppers striking again:

What we don’t understand is why BP – WHY?! I know you need good PR like George W after the Iraq invasion, but to attempt a rouse such as this when pretty much all of the Western Hemisphere hates your guts – it’s daring, but you fail again. Sorry.
