Automopedia’s Worst of the Week Junk 8 2010

bp sign protest

We took a few days off last week at Automopedia – and missed quite a lot. From car-killing tornadoes to police guessing at our speed…oh yes and that oil spill – it’s been anarchy on the roads. Here’s a look at some of the news clips from the past week.

Speed Check? We Don’t Need No Speed Check!

Ahhhh…the Buckeye state – Ohio has always been a bit of a renegade when it comes to running a state properly law and order. They are the new Old West – if the Old West was in the Mid-west and not very exciting. An Ohio Supreme Court ruling says that police officers can “issue tickets based on visual estimates of a motorist’s speed.” – Our interpretation? Don’t Drive Thru Ohio EVER.

That Darn Tornado Done Killed My Viper!

Speaking of Ohio – A set of crazed Tornadoes in the state decimated homes, killed a couple of humans, and worst of all – destroyed many automobiles: including a SRT10 Dodge Ram and brand new Dodge Viper. It’s a sad day for Dodge owners of that region.

Why Does Everyone Hate BP?

Like they say – no news is good news. British Petroleum (otherwise known as BP / The Devil) has failed several times at plugging up their Gulf of Mexico oil gusher. President Obama has gone back to Louisiana in order to survey the damage. Oil spreads towards the Florida coast at a record pace – and now we are told the spill will continue until at least this Fall.

And one angry person chucked slop on a sign at the SoHo BP service station at the corner of Houston and LaFayette in New York City. I guess Mobile/Exxon sales are going up. Personally, we prefer Sheetz (see, we took it back to Ohio, it’s a full circle).
