Rip Van Winkle, I mean Rob Van Winkle – formerly known as Vanilla Ice – has a large garage full of every car he has ever wanted to own. But how do you show them off to your celebrity pals? Answer: The Car Loft: a living space is between 700 and 900 square feet depending on the floor plan chosen, and features a bathroom, bed, show, TV and a small kitchenette downstairs in the garage area. The garage [an additional 800 - 1000 sq. ft.] comes equipped with a choice of Snap-On or Craftsman toolbox, facilities for minor repair/maintenance work, and a large showcase area to park and display cars. But the concept doesn’t stop there. TheCarLoft is intended as a social community where like-minded enthusiasts can share their collections in addition to staging weekend getaways and gatherings. Van Winkle calls it “As cool as ice–this is the new place to have. Storage for collectibles on steroids.”

TheCarLoft may have Ice Man attached, but it’s not an original concept. New York City’s 200 Eleventh Avenue condos in Manhattan’s Chelsea district will offer full lofts with the ability to drive your car directly to your floor – for a few million dollars at least. However, no other project has the combination of living space & showroom TheCarLoft does.

Van Winkle himself has a CarLoft underway – he bought a large-floor plan example with room for four rides. He plans on keeping his 2007 Rolls Royce Phantom, 1964 Caddy convertible and a slew of rotating vehicles on display. Sales have already started off with 6 of the first 22 units to be built in Delray Beach, Florida. Groundbreaking will commence this summer with the first units available in the fall.
