Cash For…Refrigerators?

Cash For Refrigerators

In the spirit of trading in your junker for a new, fuel efficient and environmentally friends vehicle (Cash for Clunkers) kitchen appliance manufacturers are offering Cash for your old Fridges, Microwaves, Ovens, and so on. Companies such as GE, Sears and Best Buy will accept old “beater” appliances and give customers, supposedly depending on how much electricity the thing takes up, some payola towards a fancy new stainless steel fridge. We at Automopedia think it would be really ironic if you went out and bought one of those nostalgic looking fridges as a replacement.

“Beginning late this fall, the program authorizes rebates of $50 to $200 for purchases of high-efficiency household appliances. The money is part of the broader economic stimulus bill passed earlier this year. Program details will vary by state, and the Energy Dept. has set a deadline of Oct. 15 for states to file formal applications. The Energy Dept. expects the bulk of the $300 million to be awarded by the end of November. (Unlike the clunkers auto program, consumers won’t have to trade in their old appliances.)” – Yahoo News

Now we ask you, what’s next? Cash for Children’s Toys? (or just for Children!), Bucks for Beer Bottles? Better yet, how about Pay for Pampers! Send in your used diapers to be recycled into planting mulch! …eww. Regardless of what’s next, the “cashing in” or everything old seems to be the latest craze helping companies stimulate their pockets, and hopefully hold onto a few more employees. But will the US Government continue to play Pawn Shop to our used appliances, vehicles, and whatever else people want to get rid of, but not put out to the curb?

We had to buy a new refigerator, our old one ran 5-6 hours at a time–so it time to move it on. We purchased a new one at Sears in Fond du Lac, WI on 8-28-09. We never mentioned to them our problem cause We had a service man from Silica Appliance,Fond du Lac,WI check the old one. That is were our old one was purchased.
So, is there any chance we could get something for our old one? Please inform us by email.
