Clunkers That Won’t Get You Cash
Yesterday, we discussed some of the finer points about Cash For Clunkers – also known as the CARS Act. CARS is meant to help owners of pollution-spewing junkers trade in their rolling smogmobiles for a new, fuel efficient ride. Just before the Car Allowance Rebate System went into full swing, EPA officials added last minute edits to MPG stats on some older vehicles, effecting their eligibility for a government voucher. See, the EPA upped combined miles per gallon ratings of some cars from 18 to 19 – leaving almost 100 new vehicles out of the running for trade-in. Conspiracy theories abound, but for now we’ll just sit quietly and let you know what vehicles are no longer C4C eligible (list courtesy of Jalopnik.com)
