Car Wars Round One – BMW Vs Audi
Welcome to Car Wars – where feuding automotive manufacturers come to blows in the pages of magazines, on television ads and across billboards world wide. This week we examine the latest edition to a long-standing rivalry between German auto makers BMW and Audi. For years these European giants have battled the time clocks of Nürburgring and the design/performance critics at top industry zines. But in Southern California the battle is really heating up.
Audi placed an ad off this California highway, featuring their all new A4, stating “Your Move, BMW.” Who knew the advertising execs over there were so cheeky?! A local BMW dealership, along with the new M3 to show off, decided it was time to come with a fitting response. Santa Monica BMW pretty much walked up to their competitor and yelled “FACE!” while shoving a palm in Audi’s grill. Both moves are pretty ballsy, and provide quite a laugh to anyone walking out of The Coffee Bean Cafe.
Audi isn’t going home quietly – they also had a reply to BMW’s diss…but we have to give the win over to BMW for billboard-balls alone. Audi thought they could come into Santa Monica BMW’s back yard and poo in it…they were sorely mistaken.
Have a feeling neither car maker has seen the end of any ad war? Back in 2007 the folks at Top Gear placed Audi & BMW against one another (as seen in the above video) – from the looks of things we may only have the start of World War Car.
This big European car giants are doing wars on billboards if they would have done that on prices in this recession times, we could have this luxury ones into our garage..
