April Fools Day in the Auto Industry

April Fools Day in the Auto Industry

You know what sucks about April 1st? EVERYONE thinks they’re a comedian today – especially executives and PR firms for automotive companies.Of course, after the expulsion of Rick Wagoner, they joke may be on them. But I digress… One of the following news breaks is real, one is fake, and one…well we aren’t quite sure. Try to guess which is which!

Hyundai to Make Next Pope Mobile

hyundai-i10-special-project

Hyundai is taking advantage of the world’s economic downturn (which will, predictably, lead to war and a resurgence of blind faith) by creating an economically friendly Hyundai i10 concept fit for the Pope himself. This new make of specially converted i10′s features rear armor protected compartments with a raised roof, which enables VIPs to be driven around in comfort regardless of if they prefer to sit or stand. Raise the roof, your holiness!

2010 Ford Mustang GT500 to get 22 MPG

2010_ford_mustang_gt500

A Ford Mustang that gets anything over 10 miles to the gallon seems like heiracy – but when the tree huggers are on your ass 24/7 and the United States Government wants you to prove just how “green” a car can get, you can’t beat a 540 HP, 510 lb-ft of torque, six-speed 2010 Mustang GT500 that reaches 22 MPG.

Kia Wind-Assisted Aero-Soul

Kia has unveiled photos of it’s much anticipated Aero-Soul concept, which uses retractable front and rear spoilers to allow wind gusts to travel under the vehicle and out through a back hatch. Kia’s Air Propulsion and Retardation Installation Line uses sensors to detect wind speed as the Soul heads down your local highway. To be politcally correct, we’d rather call it the “Air Propulsion and [Mentally/Physically Disabled] Installation Line.” Oh those crazy Koreans! What will they be up to next?
