Automopedia’s Super Bowl XLIII Automotive Commercial Round Up

bruce springsteen super bowl

Super Bowl XLIII was a triumph not only for Bruce Springsteen’s crotch, not only for Pittsburgh’s Steelers (who defeated Arizona’s Cardinals 27-23) but also for advertising and the auto industry. Speeding, heart pounding drifting, car chases and movie trailers were at the center of the most memorable Super Bowl ads this year. Take a look at some of our favorite automotive heavy car spots from last night’s game.

Bridgestone Super Bowl – Astronauts Driving Space Car

Bridgestone makes us all jealous by taking a ride round the Moon on a set of all weather tires. What we want to know is where do extra terrestrials get cinder blocks?

Audi S6 Super Bowl Ad – Jason Statham Car Chase

Statham, best known for his portrayal as the fast driving delivery man from Transporter (1 thru 3) takes on four different decades: with a Mercedes Benz 280SE, Lincoln Mark V, BMW 5-Series, Pontiac Trans Am, Lexus ES, GMC Suburban, Buell Ulysses and Audi S6.

Hyundai Genesis Coupe – Smashing Pumpkins Super Bowl Spot

It’s good to see The Smashing Pumpkins are still making music. A kick-ass 2009 Hyundai Genesis Coupe ad featured some amazing drifting put to a new tune by the 90′s Alt-rockers.

Hilarious Career Builder Commercial – Screaming in your Car

Easily the funniest commercial during this year’s Super Bowl was brought to us by Career Builder. One part includes a woman sitting outside her job in a mid-90′s Nissan Altima, screaming in agony. It also features a cute Koala bear, holding a coffee cup, being punched. PETA must be annoyed.

Summer movie trailers also dominated (As they always do) with two car-heavy film previews.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Super Bowl Spot

Transformers 2 will not only feature multiple General Motors rides, but also Audi made products. All of which transform into VERY pissed off alien robots.

GI Joe: Rise of Cobra Super Bowl Commercial

GI Joe – the live action version – is something kids from the 1980′s have wanted (or feared) for decades. The first official TV spot to be released starts off with a Bentley Continental, a public transit bus, crotch rocket, and a few VW New Beetles in the background. Can’t wait to see this on the big screen!
